I. Introduction of the Software
In development for over 3 years, the software Let's Learn Chinese is a Chinese learning software with new functions, and a creative product combining software innovations with Chinese teaching. This software uses the same effective methods as Chinese traditional teaching, such as reading after demos, pronunciation imitations, etc; it also creates a variety of new learning methods with the speech recognition and multimedia technique, such as role-playing, free practice, etc. It is a representative Chinese learning software with most advanced technology at present.


To meet the requirement of technology, this software consists of complete Chinese learning, and arranges the courses according to different practice, and the computer arranges the practice by the courses automatically. In the learning process, we suggest beginners, learners with poor basics and learners with certain knowledge of Chinese to choose different sections to learn, and different learners can have intensive practice for difficulties in Chinese learning in their own regions. To make convenience and enhance the learning effect for learners, both Chinese and English notes and illustrations for all the standard Chinese characters and words are designed, and the sentences in the passages and dialogues are marked with Chinese Pinyin. Moreover, a help document is provided in case of difficulties.

II. The advantages of this software

III. Sections of this software
  Let's Learn Chinese consists of seven sections: Basic Knowledge, Character Practice, Word Practice, Sentence Practice, Use-computer Dialogs, Free Practice and System Configuration.
  1. The Basics section consists of all the initials and finals, theories of Mandarin, which are classified into the pronunciations of initials and finals, phonetic basis and reading skills. The learning methods are mainly composed of demo sounds, pronunciation flash imitations, record comparisons etc.
  2. The Characters section consists of all the standard Chinese characters (over 8,000), and is classified into frequently used characters and infrequently used characters, and every character has its own note. The learning methods are composed of demo sounds, Speech Recognition practices, records, etc.
  3. The Word Practice section consists of frequently used words, inflexions, regional intensive practices, and is designed to accumulate words and correct errors practice. There are nearly 15,000 words. The learning methods are composed of demo sounds, Speech Recognition practices, records, etc.
  4. 40 passages of different topics are selected in the Sentence Practice section, which is designed to train the learners' reading skills. The learning methods are composed of demo sounds, Speech Recognition practices, records, etc.
  5. The Use-computer Dialogs section consists of 77 dialogs, designed to train instinctive feel for Chinese and daily application ability. The learning methods are composed of demo sounds, role-playing (Speech Recognition), records, etc.
  6. The demo reading of any Chinese character that the learner inputs is designed in the section Free Practice, which can train learners' Chinese application ability provided that they have no literal documents, such as impromptu speech, talk show, etc. Learners can read and record freely in this section.
  7. In the System Configuration section, users can adjust the level of volume of microphone and earphone and the difficulty of speech recognition, and they can change their passwords.


IV. Main Technique
  1. Speech Recognition (SR) Management and TTS Management, API, DDI and application program communicate with Speech API through the API layer, Speech API Engine intercommunicate with Speech API through the DDI layer.
  2. Intelligent Speech Synthesis Technique: Make intelligent analysis of Chinese characters, words and sentences, the system can convert them into speech information and then play them, and it can also recognize polyphone and no tone sounds, etc.
  3. Inner Code Automatically Conversion Technique: This technique can make Simplified Chinese (GB Code) or Traditional Chinese (BIG5 Code) display accurately under each language operating system.
  4. Multi-language Version: This software is designed  with multi-language, such as Chinese, English, French, Geman, Japanese, Korea, Spanish, Italian etc.
